trapped in death's illusion don't die on me you won't be forgotten but you've already been lost
The sun was doing its job far too well. It caught his violet eyes in its glare, and they shut, instinctively avoiding being blinded. The mostly black figure that the sun was beating down on padded toward a rock sculpture. A sigh escaped his jaws, but it was one of awe. His eyes, which were wide open, now facing away from the glare of the blindingly bright sun. Reds of fifty different shades collided with browns of fifty different shades and yet never mixed. And all of that made into a sculpture that seemed to claw at the sky. Tearing at it until the reds and browns would crash into the sheer blueness of the heavens above. Untouched by Twolegs or cats alike. Bright, yet dull; terrifying, yet gentle. The violet eyes viewing the formation sparkled in awe. Silence engulfed the sand, excepting the rustle of the sand as it blew to another dune. A sound broke this silence into a million pieces. A single note. Quietly, it flooded the air with its wholeness. The single note evolved into two, then four, then countless notes forming a wordless otherworldly tune that brought blurry tears to the awed violet eyes staring into a picture that would be simple nothingness to any other being.
The tune ended. The tears dropped into the loose sand, which a breeze wafted away. Silence weighed on any cats observing the scene. Just not the mostly black cat who had sung the tune in the first place. The mostly black tail quivered expectantly, dislodging a small mound of sand. A hazy image of a long-gone cat appeared and dissolved and appeared again. The violet eyes didn't blink. They had seen this image; and others like it; far too many times to be suspicious now. The image reformed into a faded-looking ginger cat with black flecks. This cat image had tears in its eyes too. It turned to the mostly black cat standing motionless beside it.
Thank you for that, Ma'keiru. the image meowed, letting the hazy tears fall and evaporate into the air. That was...more touching than I could have ever hoped. The mostly black cat that the image spoke of as Ma'keiru nodded solemnly.
Do you think that you could move on to the afterlife, No'rah? Ma'keiru whispered, so as not to distort the image floating in front of him. He risked a smile toward the cat image, as if the time they had spent together actually equaled a friendship. No'rah nodded. Her faded ginger form began fading. She managed to whisper another thank you before dissolving into the air forever. Ma'keiru shook off the tears forming in his eyes, and whispered, Farewell, lost one. He nodded to the skies above, and closed his eyes to the world.
Colors filled the light. They danced in bizarrely dazzling patterns that only a skilled artist would realize. Colors of unimaginable quality and brightness blurred together and separated into completely different shapes that formed and reformed into perfect nothings. Music playing into his ears alone that seemed to never diminish in beauty. Art. Perfection. But alas, only imaginary. No one sang in Ma'keiru's quiet Cult. No one ever had, and Ma'keiru often feared that no one ever would. Except him. He opened his eyes and smiled a prideful smile. Uniqueness was a virtue that few in this world could own. Ma'keiru padded toward the rock sculpture that he thought was so beautiful, and made a crevice in the beauty. The rock tumbled to the sand with a loud crash, and Ma'keiru's eyes narrowed at it.
It may be beautiful, but nothing... his thoughts were interrupted by a resonant boom from a late falling rock. ...is ever permanent.

It looked like a barren savannah, that would never regrow once more, but this was only one place, in the island, the other places where lived on by the clans, and their offspring, and relatives. Unlike most cult cats, she did not hate the clan cats, but she hated the clan ways. In saying that if a clan cat chose to join the mighty cult, she would treat them no different. The her other brothers and sisters.
Breathing in a sight, she let her body stretch on the heated sand. She felt like a lizard sun bathing, letting the sun sink into her skin, giving her a sense of heat and comfort. Ra looked down on her today, heating her with while he traveled across the sky.
It was quiet, to quiet, Nubia was out some where, doing some action, perhaps meeting some other cult cats, or talking to one of her sons. All she knew was that she felt a small loneness fall upon her heart, it had been days since she had shared a bed with her mate, or had, had any time to see what the cats of the cult where doing, or any thing at all really.
Her nose rose towards the sky and looked up at the large orange and yellow orb, called the sun, it blinded her, closing her eyes, she still saw the sun's rays dance on her eyelids, making colors beautiful to the feline eye underneath, they sung a song of sad beauty, but yet a watchfulness seemed to surround them, and make them carry on dancing.
As the wind picked up and the sun dancers before her eyes, began their intermission, another feline tone came to the large erect ears of the Phae. It was lovely a sound she could not ordinarily hear around the cult, no one sang here, it was quiet and serious here, but when the gods looked down in favor a feline could not help but sing, to there good graces.
Jayti moved towards the sound, her long elegant legs carrying her through the sand, till her nose picked up the scent of the resident Anubis, Ma' Keiru. Jayti had never really met the grey tom, with the white maw, and tail. It was her job, to know the names of every cat in the cult, but not to know the faces behind it, which upset her quite a bit, she was going to teach Nubia some time that knowing your whole 'family' is important, faces and all.
The tom seemed to be talking to some one, one of the dead perhaps, as Jayti could not see the face of the other resident, unless they where granted a great gift of inviability, which was doubtful, but Jayti did not challenge what she did not know, or quite understand.
Letting Ma'Keiru finish his words, and fall silent once more, she moved out into the open, not flinching when the rock hit the sand, with a thud, it was a sign of some sort she could tell, but it's meaning she could not know. it was not her job to read signs from the gods, but rather her job to see how those signs connected each and every animal to another, to read each symbiosis, learn it and take it into consideration, before acting and report on her findings, but today was no day for work, though there is no such thing.
Jayti advanced a little further, letting her Ice shaded orbs, fall upon the one with his own violet portals. She let her body stand with regal importance, naturally only to her height. The Phae let her own tones fill the air, careful not to suffocate it. 'Ma' Keiru, what is it like, to be able to communicate with the dead, to hear their needs, and be able to fulfill them? '
It was all to interesting, his role in life, though she could never in-vision herself as a Anubis, she would like to know everything she could, about the art. Waiting, in the now back silence, she hoped he would answer her question with titillating details.
